Teaching Plan for Starter 1. Teaching Aim 1) Knowledge and ability aim. a. Learn the pronunciation and writing of the letters Aa—Zz. b. Learn the phonetic symbols (20 vowels and 28 consonants) c. Grasp the basic usage of the indefinite articles a/ an. d. Master the basic words, phrases and sentences. e. Master basic daily communicative words such as greeting, asking unfamiliar things in ,asking the colors of things .etc 2) Emotion and Value aim. Talk about the things around and the topic is closely linked to the students’ everyday life and studying. And it’s one of the easiest to talk about and use. Knowing these sentences and words well can give the students a kind of feeling of harvest and make them fall much interest in English leaning further. 2. Teaching Method With the studying strategies of Imitating and Drilling, get the students to do Pair work to learn how to great each other in different conditions , ask about unfamiliar things and the colors of these things by using the teaching courseware, pictures, flashcards; Catch the students themselves’ or others’ information to have free talk to foster their communicative ability and make them interested in English. 3. Teaching Procedure Starter Unit 1 Good morning Step 1. Lead-in Self-introduction and English names. Step 2. Presentation Present the greeting word in different time and condition. And choose the suitable answers. Good morning! Good afternoon! Good evening! How do you do! How are you? Hello! Hi! Step 3 Section A 1) Listen and repeat: Greetings. a. Listen and exhibit the three conversations. b. Listen and follow (correct the intonation and pronunciation problems) c. Listen and recite d. Role play 2) Pairwork: Greet your partner. Get partner’s name and greet. What’s your name? Good morning./ Hi./ Hello. Groupwork: Greet your classmates. 3) Listening. a. Circle the names you hear. Helen Bob Frank Alice Cindy Dale Eric Grace b. Listen and number the pictures. Good morning./ Good afternoon. / Good evening. Introduce a.m. and p.m. Practice: What do we say at this time? 7.00 a.m. (Good morning.) 12.30 p.m. (Good afternoon.) 5.00 p.m. (Good afternoon.) 7.15 p.m. (Good evening.) c. Listen and repeat. d. Listen and recite. e. Pairwork: Act the conversation. Step 4 Section B 1) Picture clue: How do we greet? (3.40 p.m.--- Good afternoon.) 2) Revision of evaluations--- good, ok. Introduction of fine 3) Listen, repeat and try to recite. 4) Pairwork: Change the name and time and act the conversation 5) Groupwork: Get to know your group and greet each other. Step 5 Self-check (1) Vocabulary Check the letters and words the students know. (2) Enlarge your vocabulary (3) Sequence of words: a.
